FAMED HOSPITAL OF JFK LORE GOING BROKE VIA ILLEGAL INVASION

Terry Heath] How many Americans over the age of fifty can recall why the name Parkland Memorial Hospital that is located in Dallas, Texas seems familiar? Or remember why it played a significant role in one of the most infamous events of American political history?

Parkland Hospital is, of course, the medical facility where President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was taken to on the afternoon of November 22, 1963 a few minutes after 12:30 pm once he was shot in nearby Dealey Plaza by a gunman hiding out in the sixth floor of the Texas Schoolbook Depository. The severely injured chief executive was driven straight there in his still opened limousine with a wounded Texas Governor John Connelly at his side. Emergency doctors there attempted to treat the American leader’s head wounds from the gunshots but were unable to do so and subsequently pronounced him dead only a few minutes after his arrival. Vice-President Lyndon Johnson had arrived at the hospital in his own limousine a few minutes later and when informed that the president was dead he and his staff soon departed for nearby Love Field to take Air Force One back to Washington as the newly sworn-in 36th President of the United States.

And to make Parkland even more significant in history, this same hospital received the newly wounded and alleged JFK gunman Lee Harvey Oswald two days later after he had been shot by local nightclub owner Jack Ruby when Oswald was being transferred to a holding jail while in the custody of the Dallas Police Department pending his arraignment on charges of assassinating the president.

So what does all that have to do with the legacy and current standing of Parkland Hospital? Because that medical center is still there in its same location and still in business some 134 years after its founding in 1872 and forty-three years after JFK’s death. But now the county run taxpayer-funded facility is having trouble covering the cost of medical treatment for all of indigent citizens coming there since they are the only public hospital in Dallas County that treats the poor and destitute. And the hospital staff and financial officers for the county are discovering that everyone in the surrounding counties and even citizens of other countries situated south of the United States are also going there for treatment because they don’t have any money nor insurance and know that the taxpayers of Dallas County will eventually pick up the bill for their treatment.

Now the revelations that so many county run hospitals across the country are losing money since by law they have to treat all emergency room patients regardless of financial status is not new and has been a growing problem for at least two decades. But, according to a July 9, 2006 Washington Times article on this very subject, Parkland Hospital is reimbursed by the federal government for the treatment of undocumented citizens presumably here to work but that hospital officials state that the agreement only covers the first 48 hours of emergency care and that the hospital then has to cover the expense for the remainder of the stay if the patient can’t pay.

And, according to an unidentified source speaking to the Washington Times, ninety percent of those undocumented seeking emergency room treatment at the hospital who don’t pay are Mexican nationals.

So why should we care about this?

Because what has been happening there and taking place at all hospitals in every town, city and county on all of our southern border states is slowly starting to happen to the hospitals, schools and all public government programs in the continental United States as more and more illegal aliens cross our borders seeking jobs, free schooling for their children and free healthcare for everyone in their family and they expect and demand the U.S. taxpayer pay their bills.

Now this hospital is not some broken down old facility in a bad part of town that should have had an appointment with the wrecking ball decades ago. On the contrary, the medical facility was selected for the 13th year in a row in a survey by U.S. News & World Report as one the best care centers in the country. So what is happening there is representative of what is and will be taking place across the country in this next decade as more and more illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America emigrate here in seek of what they believe to be the good life. Instead, all they are finding are minimum wage jobs that don’t offer health insurance or work stability and, when things go bad, they rush to their local neighborhood medical center to be treated at the taxpayer’s expense.

Now, at last, after a decade or more of having to cover the costs of those who won’t pay; the government bureaucrats for Dallas County have determined that if the citizens of Mexico are unwilling to pay their own medical costs then they should send a bill directly to the government of Mexico for payment.

Dallas County Judge Maxine Keliher, who sits on the elected panel that oversees fiscal expenditures for the county, was interviewed on July 10, 2006’s ‘John and Ken Show’ on KFI-AM in Los Angeles and revealed to host John Kobylt that just in 2005 the hospital performed 16,000 births which was the most in one hospital in the nation and second in the world, just behind a hospital in Bombay, India of which 85 percent of those born at Parkland had Spanish surnames. And she also stated that even though the federal government pays for some of the costs of these births through their Medicaid program even that is paid for by the federal taxpayer so the whole nation gets to share in the pain of paying for these unwelcome newborns.

So it can be reasonably assumed that most of those pregnant women coming here from other countries are coming here for the free healthcare and birthing services offered by emergency room hospitals and take advantage of the requirement that allows all individuals born here to become automatic United States citizens because that eventually it will allow momma and poppa, their older siblings, grandma and grandpa to also emigrate here and get all the goodies that ‘Uncle Sap’ willingly and so freely pays for.

The Washington Times article quoted a Mexican consulate official in that city who was puzzled by Dallas County’s demands that his government actually pay for the medical care of his country’s citizens who reside here as unwanted guests.

“How do they know who is Mexican?” Hugo Juarez, the consul official who is quoted in the article stated. “Nobody asks for your nationality or immigration status when you go to the hospital.”

Now that seems like an odd statement to proclaim because the last time I went to a hospital they asked for every type of identification possible including blood type! But, then again, I’m an American citizen so I guess it was presumed that I’d have to pay for my own care.

There were just eighteen births at Parkland Memorial Hospital on November 22, 1963, that fateful day when a president also died there. How do those eighteen now feel as adults about their hard-earned tax dollars being used to pay for these foreign freeloaders, whether they be a newborn or an adult, at the very place they came into the world?
